VOALA programs address the myriad issues facing Veterans and their families including depression, anxiety, PTSD, TBI, substance use disorders, homelessness, unemployment, and lack of education. Our support helps Veterans overcome the barriers that stand between them and a stable, secure life. Mental health, housing, employment and case management is at the core of our Veterans programs.

Blue Butterfly Village is VOALA’s innovative community located in a beautiful idyllic setting in San Pedro that provides housing and supportive services.
All 73 units of affordable housing are subsidized for homeless families. Veteran families receive a preference for 61 of the units. 12 units are reserved for families eligible under the MHSA program. Many of the residents are female veterans and veteran families with children who are suffering some degree of psychological distress and/or service-related injury that prevents them from achieving economic self-sufficiency and threatens the break up of their family.
Each 2-bedroom unit is fully furnished and utilities are included. Amenities include a garage, in unit washer/dryer, children’s play area, office/meeting spaces, community rooms, and community walking path.

Armed with a continuum of immediate services available through VOALA programs as well as a plethora of partnering community and government providers, Battle Buddies are able to facilitate access to resources for heroes in need. Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (aka HVRP aka Helping Veterans Receive Paychecks) ensures that Veterans receive the employment and training services they need to get good jobs. HVRP offers job counseling, resume preparation, job placement, and follow–up.
HVRP provides immediate transitional housing on–site and through referrals to VOALA Pathways to Home. Program staff ensures that participants receive essential supportive services such as clothing, shelter, referral to medical or substance use disorder treatments, and transportation assistance — either within VOALA or at another agency in the community.
