Section 8 Accommodation

Some units are available through the Housing Choice Voucher Program, also known as Section 8. If an applicant qualifies, their rent may be partially covered by direct payments to the landlord. Contact the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) to apply for Section 8.

Martin Luther King Apartments features:

We offer housing to people with little regular income who cannot afford a place to live, with special consideration for veterans experiencing homelessness.

  1. Applicant name 
  2. Applicant HMIS number
  3. Applicant views and agrees to unit desired
  4. Applicant gives Property Management the name of their HACLA Advisor
  5. RFTA PACKET (Request for Tenancy Approval) is given to Property Management and filled out alongsideapplicant. 
  6. Completed RFTA Packet sent back to HACLA Advisor
  7. HACLA Advisor approvespacket and schedules HACLA inspection on assigned unit. (usually takes 5-7 days to have unit inspected) 
  8. Unit passes HACLA inspection and is added to our HAP contract and applicant approved to move in (should the unit notpass, we fix the deficiencies outlined by HACLA and reschedule inspection) 
  9. Move-in date scheduled, VOALA lease signed 
  10. Move in Authorization sent to HACLA 
  11. HACLA Lease created 
  12. VOALA receives HACLA Subsidy”
