COMMUNITY UPDATE: LINEAGE WAREHOUSE – EAST LOS ANGELES

We want to share an important update regarding the ongoing cleanup and community concerns surrounding the Lineage warehouse in East Los Angeles.

While many VOALA locations are outside the area most directly affected, we know that our employees, families, and community members may live, work, attend school, or travel nearby. Your health and safety are important to us, and VOALA continues to monitor the situation and information being provided by local officials and regulatory agencies.

Here are some of the latest developments:
• Cleanup Efforts: Southern California air quality regulators have ordered Lineage to accelerate the removal of millions of pounds of decaying food from the fire-damaged warehouse.
• Odor Control & Sanitation: Additional cleanup, sanitation, and odor-control measures are being required to help reduce the impact on surrounding neighborhoods.
• Enforcement: Local and regulatory agencies have increased enforcement efforts, including possible fines and additional actions related to ongoing odor and environmental concerns.
• City Response: Mayor Karen Bass and other local officials are calling for accountability while working to make information and resources available to affected residents.

What VOALA Is Doing

As an added precaution, VOALA is taking additional measures at locations within approximately three miles of the affected area. These include:
• Replacing HVAC air filters as appropriate
• Providing air purifiers to help support indoor air quality
• Monitoring updates from local officials and regulatory agencies
• Sharing available information and resources with our programs, employees, and families
• Continuing to evaluate conditions and adjusting precautions as the cleanup progresses
